Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza: A Strong Contender in Safety

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, India’s popular SUV, has been recognized for its safety with a 4-Star Global NCAP rating for adult occupant protection and a 2-Star rating for child occupant safety.

The Ratings Explained

The Vitara Brezza achieved 12.51 points out of 17 for adult occupant protection and 17.93 out of 49 for child occupant protection in the frontal offset crash test at 64 kmph. This score is indicative of Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to safety, as the vehicle’s body structure was rated stable by Global NCAP.

Adult and Child Occupant Protection

The SUV’s high score is a result of its robust body shell, which effectively absorbed much of the impact, preserving the integrity of the cabin. The A-pillar’s untouched state post-collision ensures minimal intrusion, safeguarding passenger space. Furthermore, the standard inclusion of safety features such as ABS, two airbags, and ISOFIX anchors contributed significantly to the positive outcome.

Safety Assist Technologies

- Airbags: Frontal impact protection for both the driver and passenger.

- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS): Maintains control and prevents wheel lock-up during sudden braking.

- ISOFIX: Standardized anchor points for child seats, enhancing child safety.

How is the design of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza gets a bolder and muscular stance with the introduction of a new grille on its face. The faux bull-bar design and faux skid plates are some of the other features enhancing the overall appeal of the car. The face of the car is bolder than ever with the redesigned headlamp cluster. Moreover, there are additions like the LED projector lamps and LED DRLs that caters to enhance the overall appeal of the model. Lastly, the model also gets a newly designed dual-tone alloy wheel along with a new rear bumper and redesigned tail lamps.

How does the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza drive?

The new petrol engine has quite appealing and impressive drive experience at first stance. It can be revved hard but goes pretty well between 3,000 to 4,500 rpm as well. The 4-speed automatic variant is a torque converter instead of AMT that surely is a refinement added to the car.

However, at a point the automatic engine becomes sluggish and the gearbox isn’t very sleek in giving immediate result for a pick-up. Therefore, if you wish to go roaring with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Car, then you should opt for the manual variant instead of the 4-speed automatic. Besides having better engagement while driving, the all-new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza also has a better and lighter clutch action. You can easily shift between gears without being held out for long like in the automatic variants. Moreover, the precise shift in gears prevents you from getting a rubbery feel which is found on the automatic variants. Though the 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 4-speed gearbox is quite heavy on the pocket, yet is quite outdated as you can spot these configurations on cars like Ertiga and Ciaz as well.

How comfortable is Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?

The 5-seater premium subcompact SUV is known to comprise comfort and convenience along with style and elegance. Seats are designed in upholstery fabric. There are features such as Manual Air conditioners, heater, tilt steering adjustment, electrically adjustable rear-view mirror, dual horn, windscreen wiper, cruise control and steering mounted audio. Furthermore, you can get a rear parking camera, height-adjustable driver seat, rear armrest, room for luggage and outside temperature display on the top variants of the car. Push Start Stop Button, Electric Folding Outside Mirrors, Water Temperature Indicator, Keyless Entry, Tailgate Open System and Side AC Louver are some of the other conveniences found in the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

How’s the interior?

Some refinements have been added to the interiors of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza as well to slick up the overall appeal of the car’s cabin. An all-black theme is adapted to cover the finishing of the car. Black always gives a bold and premium outlook and thus, is attractive to look at. Then there is the steering wheel wrapped in leather. However, one of the most impressive upgrades in the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Car is the addition of the SmartPlay Studio. The car’s connectivity and entertainment options have been elevated since the introduction of the SmartPlay Studio. Moreover, you could also connect it to your smartphone via USB, Bluetooth and so on.

How’s the tech?

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has also introduced some electrically advanced features in the new version of the car to make the vehicle a tech-friendly model. Some of its premium features in this arena include the Rear Parking Camera, Cruise Control, Outside Temperature Display, Steering Mounted Audio, Push Start Stop Button, Electric Folding Outside Mirrors, Electrically Adjustable Rear-View Mirror, Keyless Entry and Water Temperature Indicator.

Some of the other tech-friendly support system added to the car can be mentioned are Distance to Empty, Average Fuel Efficiency Indicator, Seat Belt Warning, Low Fuel Warning, Door Ajar Warning, Navigation System with Live Traffic Update and Voice Command. However, to get hold of all these features together, you would need to buy one of the models belonging to the top segment of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

How’s the Storage?

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has a sufficient boot space of 328 litres which could well be expanded once you fold the 60:40 foldable split seats at the rear of the car. Thus, the car is a storage-friendly model which can be well-equipped if you wish to set off on long journeys with heavy luggage and items.

How’s the mileage of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has a decent mileage ranging between 17 km/l and 19 km/l. While the petrol model with manual transmission has 17 km/l mileage, the automatic variant, on the other hand, gives a mileage of 18.8 km/l.

Previously when the diesel variants of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza were in vogue, their mileage was 24.3 Km/l. However, since the up-gradation of the model to be BS-VI compliant, Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the manufacture of the diesel variants. Hence, we have the petrol variants only.

How is the performance of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has decent performance on road. Its 1.5-litre petrol motor churns a power of 102 bhp at 6,000 rpm with a torque of 134 Nm at 4,400 rpm. You get the 5-speed gearbox for the manually transmitted cars, whereas, the AMT unit gets an up-gradation with the 4-speed torque converter automatic. The newly introduced mild hybrid system in the automatic variants of the Vitara Brezza improves the fuel economy of the car by making it fuel-efficient as well as helps to reduce emissions from the car.

How safe is Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza had scored 4 stars in the Global NCAP Crash Tests which is still highly appreciated by all commuters on-road driving the car. However, let us take a glimpse into the safety gears which are pre-installed in the car. So, the new Vitara Brezza gets dual airbags as standard in all the variants of the car. Then there is the Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution. This is better known as ABS with EBD to prevent the car from skidding while sudden braking and distribute the force exerted evenly through all four tyres. Lastly, there are parking sensors to assist you in parking without having to collide with an obstacle on the road or the wall.

Some of the other features gearing up the safety quotient of the car include the Engine Immobilizer, Central Locking, Security Alarm, Turn Indicators on OVRM, Day & night IVRM, Roof Rails in the VXI model, Rear Wiper in the ZXI variants and Rain Sensing Wipers in the ZXI Plus cars.

Is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza good value for money?

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza can be called a valuable purchase as it extends and offers so many features and conveniences packed up in the car. It does not compromise on its safety quotient as well. The styling and design of the Vitara Brezza are also quite impressive. When you consider its performance and driving experience, then you can see how decent the car works. Though it belongs to the subcompact SUV class of cars, yet you could use it for daily commuting as well. Therefore, whether you purchase the car for sports and adventure or daily commuting, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is value for money.

Pros

  • Peppy Petrol Engine
  • Good Cabin Space
  • 4-Star Safety Rating From Global Ncap

Cons

  • Styling And Features Are Dated
  • No Diesel Engine On Offer
  • Needs A More Engaging Auto Gearbox

Verdict

The new Brezza does feel refreshed and more energetic thanks to the new petrol motor and the mild facelift. Although, the value-for-money proposition takes a hit with the Venue and the Nexon offering more features and pricing is much more competitive than that of the new Brezza. Plus, with the Kia Sonet coming in, the Vitara Brezza facelift has its work cut out, keeping its crown as the undisputed king of the subcompact SUV segment.
