BMW has officially unveiled the 2015 X5 M and X6 M. Both cars will make their debut at the LA Auto Show. These high performance crossovers are the recipients of an aggressive front bumper, a revised grille and aerodynamic side skirts.
Both the cars also boast of ventilated front fenders, aerodynamic side mirrors and 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport UHP tyres. There are a few changes to the rear profile too as there's a distinctive rear bumper and a diffuser which is flanked by a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system.
With the exterior sorted out, the styling changes continue in the cabin as the models have Merino leather sport seats, a revised instrument cluster and a leather-wrapped M steering wheel with aluminum gearshift paddles. Other highlights include a leather-wrapped dashboard, an Alcantara roof liner, M-brand door sill plates and aluminum trim. If that's not impressive enough, the models also boast contrast stitching, embossed headrests, a four-zone automatic climate control system and a Harman Kardon audio system.
Powering the X5 and X6 M is a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine that develops 567 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and an M-specific all-wheel drive system which enables them to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds before reaching a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
A sport-tuned suspension reduces the ride height by 10mm while the high-performance braking system (with Dark Blue metallic calipers) and a Dynamic Damper Control system with three different modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport+ makes these two cars a different breed altogether.
