Suzuki Motorcycle India has unveiled the updated versions of the Gixxer, Gixxer SF, and new Access 125 scooter at its stall at the 2016 Auto Expo with a host of necessary upgrades. Starting with the motorcycles, the Gixxer SF gets updated with fuel injection that helps improve the throttle response on the full-faired motorcycle, whereas the Gixxer street-fighter has been upgraded with optional dual disc brakes at the front and rear respectively.
The rear disc brake option is also extended to the SF in a bid to improve the braking performance on the models. Mechanically, both bikes do not sport any changes and continue with the outgoing 155cc motor in the same state of tune producing 14.8PS at 800rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6000rpm, while paired to a 5-speed gearbox. Aesthetic changes too are none on the models and the recently introduced dual-tone colour has been retained.
However, the model to get the bulk of changes is the 2016 Suzuki Access scooter that gets new curvy styling on the lines of the Yamaha Fascino and Piaggio Vespa for a more retro styled look. The scooter gets new chrome treated headlamp along with a 3D logo, revised side panels, reworked LED tail lamp and clear lens indicators. Mechanically, the scooter gets a new front suspension setup for improved comfort, while the twin shocks continue at the rear. Power though comes from the same 124cc single-cylinder engine tuned for 8.7PS and 10.2Nm of torque, while paired to an automatic transmission.
Furthermore, the 2016 Suzuki Access is now 20 per cent more fuel efficient as per the company, thanks to the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology that helps reduce frictional losses. The automaker has also updated the scooter with an optional front disc brake for improved stopping power. With the latest update, the 2016 Access is now ready to compete more effectively against the Honda Activa 125 that is currently leading the segment in terms of sales.
