The 2017 Ford EcoSport is finally ready to go on sale in India on November 9 and it has been one of the most anticipated cars for this year. The popular sub-compact SUV comes with some major cosmetic updates and an all-new petrol engine and automatic gearbox. We were the first ones to exclusively unveil the SUV and we have also shared our first impression review of the 2017 Ford EcoSport. Right from technical specs to feature offerings, we have already shared everything that we know about the new EcoSport and all that now remains to be known is the price. We are also giving you live updates from the launch of the car.

While we will come to know the actual price of the new EcoSport at the time of the launch, we expect Ford India to introduce the facelifted model in the price range of Rs. 7.2 lakh to 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Considering the improved styling and the host of new features that the 2017 EcoSport has to offer, ideally, a slight price hike is what we would expect, but, we believe Ford will keep the entry price around the same range as the pre-facelift model mainly to improve its year-end sales numbers.

However, the top-end model - Titanium+ variant will see a decent price hike mainly due to the addition of new features like bigger 17-inch alloys, revised premium cabin, and the new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets SYNC3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Of course, the price will most likely be introductory and will see an upward revision in January 2018, which is a common practice among almost all the carmakers in India.

Such competitive pricing will also give it an upper hand over the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which has been in the market for over 1.5 years now and is available in the same price range. One of the reasons why Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is doing well is because it has a long list of features and competitive pricing. Now, the new EcoSport too gets a host of upgrades, mainly to the interior. While the top-spec EcoSport gets the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, the middle variants now also get a 6.5-inch touchscreen unit. In fact, apart from the base 'Ambient' variant, all models get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a bunch of other features, whereas Vitara Brezza gets them only in the range-topping variant. This alone makes the EcoSport a better offering than the Vitara Brezza, but if you want more then you have the engine options as well.

Under the hood, along with the existing 99 bhp 1.5-litre diesel motor, the 2017 EcoSport will also come with an all-new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine from the company's new line-up. Unofficially known as the Dragon engine, the new three-cylinder motor makes about 120 bhp and develops a peak torque of 150 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard along with a 6-speed automatic dual clutch transmission (DCT) for the new petrol engine. These engines are one of the most powerful in the segment and offer great performance.
Upon launch, along with the Vitara Brezza, the EcoSport will also rival the likes of Mahindra TUV300 and the Honda WR-V.
