The long-awaited 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift is finally here and the carmaker has brought in some interesting changes with the updated model. The company has launched the SUV at a starting price of Rs. 9.97 lakh, going up to Rs. 16.01 lakh for the range-topping variant. In fact, Mahindra has also re-tuned the tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk engine, which now comes with 20 bhp more offering a total power output of 140 bhp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. Interestingly, Mahindra has redone the variants and now instead of classifying them with even numbers (S4, S6, S8, and S10) the company has gone with odd numbers and now the Scorpio comes in 4 variant - S3, S5, S7 and S11.

The new base model of the Mahindra Scorpio facelift is the only model that comes with the 2.5-litre m2DICR engine and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the exterior front, the S3 variant comes with offerings like new 7-slot black grille, black bumper, ORVMs, door handles, and side cladding, silver steel rims, redesigned tailgate with bumper mounted footrest, rear number plate applique. The cabin, on the other hand, comes with air conditioning, full vinyl upholstery, manual adjustment for ORVMs, power windows (centre console mounted), tilt adjustable steering, 12V power outlet, headlamp levelling switch and remote fuel lip opener, and hydraulic power steering. There is no in-car entertainment but on the safety front, you get collapsible steering, side intrusion beams, and engine immobiliser.
Mahindra Scorpio Facelift gets improved styling and a new grille
In addition to the features offered with the S3 variant, the S5 trim comes with features like - black steel wheels with wheel cap, body coloured bumper, fabric interior, power window controls on doors, rear 12V charging port, follow-me-home headlamp. You do not get an entertainment system in the S5 trim as well but on the safety front, this Scorpio variant comes with features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder, and auto door lock. This variant gets the 2.2-litre mHawk engine that makes 120 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Mahindra Scorpio Facelift's dimensions remain unchanged
Adding to the features offered in the S5 variant, the S7 trim also comes with features like - silver inserts for the grille, body coloured side cladding, ORVMs and door handles, sky rack and rear spoiler, silver skid plate for the front and rear bumper, silver applique, LED stop lights and projector headlamps. The cabin gets height adjustable driver seat, front seat armrests, electrically adjustable ORVMs, roof mounted sunglass holder, remote centre locking, lead me to vehicle headlamps, puddle lamps and larger bottle holders. The S5 trim gets the basic 2DIN audio system with speakers and tweeters along with voice assist system. On the safety front, in addition to the offerings of the S5 trim, you also get an anti-theft warning. On the engine front, S7 gets the option of the more powerful 140 bhp mhawk engine.
Mahindra Scorpio Facelift gets a redesigned rear
The top-of-the-line Scorpio S11 variant replaces the older S10 variant and in addition to the featured offed with the S7 trim the SUV comes with LED daytime running lamps, chrome grille inserts, alloy wheels, chrome bezels for foglamps, ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights, and chrome applique for the tailgate. The cabin comes with a fully automated air con system, audio and cruise control on steering wheel, faux leather upholstery, faux leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, and more. The headlamps come with static bending technology while the cabin comes with a 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a music player, reverse parking camera with dynamic assist. The car also gets rain sensing wiper and gear shift indicators. On the safety front, the only addition is a speed alert and 4x4 also comes as an option.
