Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Preview: But at Geneva, Suzuki showcased the car for the world to see and gave out quite a few details with regards to the car and when it'll be launched in the Indian market. The second-gen of the car was a big leap over the first and the third one promises to top even that in terms of ride and handling, feature list and more. We take you through the 10 things you need to know about the new Maruti Suzuki Swift The new-generation Suzuki Swift is based on the all-new HEARTECT platform, which is lighter and more rigid than the current version. So, expect the new-gen Swift to be lighter and more agile. The new HEARTECT platform is a modified version of the B platform which is used by the Baleno. 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift front The HEARTECT platform will also make the 2017 Suzuki Swift safer than the current model, thereby complying with global and also the safety norms that will come into effect in India soon. The new generation Swift gets a completely new styling and looks more upmarket than its predecessor. The A-pillar accentuates the Swift's trademark styling but the front grille is new and the new sweptback headlamp looks sleek and incorporates LED DRLs give it a sporty look. 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift side The side profile remains distinctly Swift-like on the new generation and the car now gets a floating roof. This will no doubt allow Maruti to play with contrast roof offerings. The rear gets new stubby tail lights with LEDs and the carved out boot-lid with an integrated spoiler completes the classy look. The cabin too oozes sportiness and there's a race-inspired twin-pod instrument cluster and infotainment unit. The flat-bottom steering wheel too is part of the 'sporty' hatch. There's also a touchscreen display that has been carried-over from Maruti's Nexa models like Baleno and Ignis.The new Swift will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Maruti Suzuki Swift Cabin On the engine front, Suzuki is yet to reveal the powertrains but we expect the 1.0 litre turbocharged BoosterJet petrol, updated 1.2 litre K-Series petrol and 1.3 litre diesel to make their way under the hood. Transmission options will include the 5-speed manual and automatic units - though Maruti may consider the AMTs for both petrol and diesel models in India. The Swift showcased at Geneva also has SHVS - or Suzuki's mild hybrid system - which we expect will be carried over to the India-spec too thus giving the consumer a wide variety to choose from.
