2017 Peugeot Speedfight 125
Starting with the sporty new 2017 Peugeot Speedfight 125, the scooter is based on the 50cc Speedfight 4 and boasts of funky styling and is also the first Peugeot model to get full LED lighting. Power on the Speedfight comes the new 125cc single-cylinder SmartMotion engine that is tuned to produce 10.8bhp of power and 10.8 Nm of torque.
Loaded on tech, the motor comes with Low Friction Efficiency (LFE) technology and Synerjet single indirect ignition system Peugeot's patented Alternative Current Generator (ACG) Management. The ACG unit aids in disabling the flywheel during acceleration as well as deceleration and provides more power during the initial pickup.
Furthermore, Peugeot claims that the 2017 Peugeot Speedfight 125 is more fuel efficient than the existing models, while the Synchro Braking Concept on the scooter distributes braking between front and rear wheels, allowing for a more controlled stop.
2017 Peugeot Metropolis
The other scooter set for sale next year is the 2017 Peugeot Metropolis. The new edition witnesses a subtle styling upgrade to the three-wheeled scooter, while the strong proportions and dual-seats remain the eye-grabbing details on the model. Major changes for the 2017 model year include the redesigned dashboard and a USB port for smartphone charging.
Power on the 2017 Metropolis comes from the Euro4 compliant 400cc PowerMotion LFE motor capable of churning out 34.8bhp of power and 38Nm of maximum torque. The Metropolis also comes with Switchable Traction Control that is available in two riding modes - Urban and Sport, while there is a new braking system developed by Continental and Nissin, and comes with ABS. The new unit claims to reduce braking distance by 23 per cent over the current model. The new Metropolis is also the first scooter in the world to come with hazard lights which are triggered automatically under emergency braking.

The 2017 Peugeot Speedfight 125 will be hitting markets in the UK in by mid next year, and will be joined by the new Metropolis as well, along with its limited edition RX-R version.
India, however, will not be getting either scooters anytime soon. With Mahindra having no immediate plans for launching these premium scooters and in the market yet to open to such models, the Peugeot models still remain a distant dream. That said, if a premium scooter still fits your bill, the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani continues to be appropriate alternative.
