The new-gen Audi Q5 is all set to get a long wheelbase version soon and recently a test mule of the SUV was spotted in China sans camouflage. It has been christened the Audi Q5L and the latest spy shots also give us a good glimpse of the cabin with all things intact. While the company hasn't officially announced the model yet, in one of Audi's product planning presentation, which was leaked early this year in July, both the Audi Q5L and the Q5 e-tron were among the upcoming models slated to reach China in 2018. And the sighting of this production model further confirms the Audi Q5L's imminent arrival.

Interestingly, the upcoming Audi Q5L is the first SUV from the four-ringed brand to go on sale in a long-wheelbase form in China. The upcoming Q5 L will be about 102 mm longer than the regular Q5 at 4,765 mm compared to the latter's 4,663 mm long profile. The wheelbase of the LWB model is also said to have been increased by 89 mm at 2,908 mm wheelbase from the standard model's 2,819 mm wheelbase. The extended cabin space is clearly seen from the increased legroom, while the dashboard and the centre console remains similar to the standard version.
Audi Q5L dashboard and interior styling remains unchanged
On the exterior front, the design and styling of the car largely remain unchanged, especially the face of the car, which is still the same. From the sides, the SUV, as it's supposed to, does look a bit longer than the standard model, but the alloys and the ORVMs all remain unchanged. As for the rear, we get similar styling and design, with the exception of the new 'Q5L' badging, while the other end comes with the '35 TFSI quattro' badge.

Judging by the badging, the Audi Q5L is powered by the existing 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that comes in two states of power options 187 bhp and 247 bhp. The Chinese publication that leaked the image claims that the engine will come mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Quattro permanent AWD system.
While the upcoming Audi Q5L is expected to be launched in the Chinese market in the early half of 2018, there is still no word about an India launch yet. Having said that, India is no stranger to Audi's long wheelbase model, so we won't be surprised if the company decides to launch the car here.
