Spy shots of the next generation Rolls Royce Phantom have made their way online completely covered in camouflage, providing a glimpse of the interiors on the ultra luxurious model for the first time. Scheduled to be unveiled in 2018, the latest spy shots of the new Phantom reveal a tech friendly dashboard that features a digital instrument panel taking prominence. The large screens seen in these images replace the plethora of traditional dials that commanded the cabin for the longest time now.

The digital instrument console brings dramatic upgrades to the 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom, which will be based on a completely new aluminium spaceframe architecture with the latter to underpin all Rolls models in the future. The new platform will not only improve structural stiffness resulting in better refinement, ride and noise levels, but will also help achieve a lower kerb weight on the new generation model. The outgoing sedan uses a steel monocoque structure that dates back to 2003.

Rolls-Royce had previously stated that the new generation Phantom VIII (as the company calls it) will receive significant upgrades. Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, CEO, Rolls-Royce had described the new Phantom as "contemporary and beautiful enhanced with cutting-edge technologies and design innovations." In terms of design, the eighth generation Phantom will look every bit like the British icon featuring an evolutionary design language, albeit with softer lines, a more sloping roofline and a redesigned rear bumper. The trademark rear-hinged doors and the massive front grille will continue to make an appearance on the new generation sedan.
The 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom will not only benefit from a digitized interior, but will also benefit from the BMW Group's technological advancements including gesture controlled infotainment systems to autonomous driving. The luxury sedan will feature enhanced luxury options and trim levels along with a plethora of customisation options. Subsequently, the next generation Phantom will also miss out on the Coupe and Drophead versions as the either models are being phased out with the current seventh generation.

Talking about power, the new generation Rolls-Royce Phantom will feature the traditional V12 motor finding purpose under the hood, while there is a possibility of a plug-in hybrid version making it to the lineup, borrowed from the upcoming Cullinan SUV.
