Leaked images of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny made their way to the internet earlier this month, pretty much revealing the new generation model completely. The small off-roader will be moving to its fourth generation and will be making its public debut later this year. According to a report from Yahoo Japan, the 2018 Suzuki Jimny will be unveiled on October 25, 2017, at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. This will be the Japanese car maker's big reveal at the event, following the debut of the new Suzuki Swift Sport at Frankfurt next month. The report further states that sales for the new Jimny will commence from February 2018 in Japan.

Leaked images from the presentation showcased the all new avatar of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny. While retaining its limited dimensions, the new model gets a complete overhaul in design and is a lot boxier this time. The styling inspiration seems to have been taken from the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen with the upright profile suggesting the same. The front sports an upright grille with 5 slots, while the minimal-looking bumper has moved higher up, making for an improved approach angle. The three-door layout of the Jimny continues on the new generation as well.

Inside, the 2018 Suzuki Jimny will be receiving a major upgrade with more tech wizardry added to the cabin. The leaked images showed an all-new design coupled with a touchscreen infotainment system with the SmartPlay interface, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, of course. Other features likely to include will be auto climate control, Bluetooth telephony and much more. A host of other components come from Suzuki's other range of models including the new generation Swift. The twin pod instrument cluster will also sport a Multi-function display unit.

With respect to engine options, the new generation Suzuki Jimny internationally will be offered in a host of power units including the 1-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol, 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and possibly a 0.66-litre petrol as well. Suzuki's Allgrip Pro 4x4 All-Wheel Drive system will also be available for enhanced off-roading capabilities. Details are still sketchy on the Indian launch of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny.
