There are going to be a spree of launches in the second half of the calendar year - 4 to be precise and the car to kick start proceedings will be the new generation A6. Yes, finally, we will get the new A6 in India and though it's a little late, it's most welcome. The company till now has been relying on special edition models to push sales of the A6 in the country. It was in March this year that Audi India launched the Lifestyle edition of the A6 with some updated features but clearly more needed to be done to push sales in India. With BMW getting aggressive and younger as far as its current portfolio goes, and Mercedes-Benz at the top of its game in terms of sales, Audi really needed to push in its younger models into the country.

The exterior design of the 2019 Audi A6 takes inspiration from the A7 and A8
The new-gen A6 fits this bill. The 2019 Audi A6 gets a whole lot sexier on the outside and inside. The design language on the exterior is inspired from the new A7 and the A8 with the big trapezoidal grille up front. The panels on the car get taut surfaces and lines which cut all the bulk. It's not muscular but just a lot leaner and tauter than before. Inside, the dashboard gets a black panel design where the interior mimics a lounge setting.
The number of buttons too goes down as the A6 gets new MMI touchscreen in the middle and the 12.3 inch virtual cockpit behind the steering wheel. The new A6 will also feature the new MMI touchscreen infotainment system which has the interface of your typical smartphone. The system can store personal settings for up to seven drivers. The individual profile settings have up to 400 parameters. Apart from that, Audi will also be offering MMI Navigation Plus which will have even more options to configure the optional features on the A6.
The new-gen Audi A6 gets 37 driver assistance systems
The new-gen Audi A6 gets mild-hybrid engines. There will be a 3.0-litre V6 petrol that makes 335 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque while the other will be a 3.0-litre diesel that will churn out 282 bhp and 620 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic tiptronic gearbox while the petrol gets a sportier 7-speed S tronic gearbox.
The new-gen Audi A6 gets 37 driver assistance systems which have been bundled into three packages which are the park assist, city assist and tour assist. All three packages have different driver assistance systems on offer and of course, you can opt for all three of them. The driver assistance systems get their data from the central driver assistance controller, which can include up to five radar sensors, five cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner as well.
