The Mercedes-AMG E 53 4Matic+ and E 63 S 4Matic+ has gone on sale in India today. Both AMGs will be sold in India as completely built unit (CBU) and are the performance versions of the E-Class family and are based of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class standard wheelbase that's on sale in global markets, while India gets the executive luxury sedan only in the long wheelbase (LWB) version. While the pre-facelift Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ was already on sale in India, the AMG E 53 has been launched for the first time in our market.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 4M+ And AMG E 63 S 4M+ look sportier.
It is quite evident that the shorter wheelbase and other sporty elements in its design give both AMGs a sporty demeanour and that starts with the signature AMG panamericana grille with vertical slats upfront, which is common on both models like many other design elements. So, a sharper bumper featuring large air curtains and glossy black elements, E-Class sourced sleek LED taillights at the rear and a quad exhaust system, with a glossy black diffuser are things you'll see on both models. That said, the E 53 comes with round tips while the E 63 S gets a squarish design. Both also come with a contrast lip spoiler and a set of 19-inch alloy wheels with the option of upgrading to a set of 20-inchers. Obviously, you do get LED headlights along with daytime running lights (DRLs) as well.
Both models are not much different on the inside in terms of layout, however both cabins are draped in different materials. While the AMG E 63 S gets Nappa leather seats, the AMG E 53 comes with black ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfibre with an AMG design, red contrasting top-stitching and AMG badging. Carbon fibre has been used generously on the dashboard and centre console complementing its aggressive character, and contrast stitching on the steering wheel and seats further accentuates it.
In terms of features, both models will come with Mercedes' signature single unit display featuring two digital touchscreens for infotainment and instrumentation. The long feature list also includes the MBUX system, AMG-style flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel, 64 colour ambient lighting and ventilated seats among others.
The Mercedes-AMG E 53 4Matic+ will be powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine that comes paired with an EQ Boost starter-alternator. It's the same engine that currently powers the AMG GLE 53, and is tuned to offer the same 435 bhp and 520 Nm of peak torque. Its EQ Boost starter-alternator briefly provides an additional 21 bhp and 250 Nm of torque and also feeds the 48 V onboard electrical system. The engine comes mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and the fully variable all-wheel-drive system AMG Performance 4MATIC+. The AMG E 53 4Matic+ can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.5 seconds while can further clock a top-speed of 250 kmph.
The AMG E 63 S comes with the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine tuned to make 612 bhp and a maximum torque of 850 Nm
The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ performance sedan is offered with the 4.0-litre, V8 biturbo motor. The top-end S is the only variant that goes on sale in India and is tuned to churn out 607 bhp and a humongous 850 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission, giving the car enough punch to clock triple-digits in 3.4 seconds while it can tick a top-speed of 300 kmph.
