Tata Motors recently took the wraps off the new Tigor EV. Now, the Tigor has existed as an EV earlier, but it was primarily for the fleet market, but this time, the car that was unveiled today, is meant for private buyers and will be Tata's second EV for private market after the Nexon EV. Prices of the Tigor electric subcompact sedan will be announced on August 31, 2021. Tata will begin taking bookings for the Tigor EV today onwards. The Tata Tigor EV is powered by the same Ziptron technology that the Nexon EV gets. In case of the Tigor, the car gets a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is IP67 rated and is offered with an 8-year/160,000 km warranty. The Tigor produces a maximum of output of 55 kW and 170 Nm. Surprisingly Tata did not reveal the range offered on the Tigor EV, although, we expect it to be around 250 km or so. The Tigor EV does the 0-60 kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds.

The Tigor EV takes its design cues from the Tigor with an internal combustion engine. There are a few design differences though. The front end sees a gloss black panel, with blue trimmings, which underline the 'EV' credentials of the car. Blue highlights are also seen on the 15-inch alloy wheels and the headlights.
The Tigor EV takes under 60 minutes to charge from 0 to 80% by using a fast charger
It is based on a proven platform with Rear Crash compatible structure and also complies with ODB 64 test standard. The Impact Resistant Battery Pack casing of Tigor EV complies with AIS-048 standard for nail penetration at Cell Level. The new Tigor EV is compatible with globally acceptable CCS2 charging protocol and can be fast charged as well as slow charged from any 15 A plug point. The Tigor EV can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in less than an hour, with a fast-charger.
