Volvo Cars India is set to launch two petrol mild-hybrid models in the country on October 19, 2021. These models are likely to be the petrol variants of the S90 sedan and XC60 SUV. The Chinese-owned Swedish automaker has shared a block your date invite with the media that reads - "We are ready for the future, let us show you how it looks". In fact, the brand recently dropped the first teaser of the new mild hybrid XC60 on its official Twitter account, confirming its imminent arrival in the Indian market.

The carmaker is among a growing crop of companies planning to ditch fossil fuel vehicles in the next few years and go all-electric. In fact it has stated that by 2030 the transformation to electrification of its cars will happen. As far as the Indian market is concerned, the brand had previously confirmed that it plans to double its sales volume in the next two years. The company has already said that it will introduce an all-electric car in India every year from 2021.
The new Volvo XC60 is expected to get subtle design changes, including a reworked grille, new front bumper, pair of new alloy wheels, and new exterior shades. The SUV is also likely to feature the latest Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) system with automatic braking and collision avoidance, Pilot Assist function. It is also likely to get a new Android-powered touchscreen infotainment system packed with built-in Google apps and services along with the brand's 'Digital Services' package. The carmaker has already confirmed a mild-hybrid petrol powertrain, which could be a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit. However, the exact state of tune remains unknown as of now.

On the other hand, the Volvo S90 petrol mild-hybrid model is also expected to come with subtle design changes inside out. Like the XC90, the S90 luxury saloon will also be a petrol mild-hybrid model carrying the same 2.0-litre petrol mill with a 48-V mild-hybrid technology. The carmaker also plans to launch the XC40 Recharge electric SUV in the first quarter of 2022. It is the company's first all-electric offering and will come to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
