Audi India will begin the year 2022 with a new product in the form of the Audi Q7 SUV, as the pre-bookings are now open at an initial token amount of Rs 5 lakh ahead of its launch in the country later this month. The German carmaker commenced with the local assembly of the 2022 Audi Q7 facelift last month from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd.'s (SAVWIPL) manufacturing facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The Audi Q7 BS4 version was initially discontinued back in 2020 when the newer emission norms kicked in, and since then, has been absent from the company's Q range, which now includes BS6 versions of the Audi Q2, Audi Q5, Audi Q8 as well as the Audi RSQ8.
The Audi Q7 received a facelift back in 2019, but the launch in India was delayed due to the pandemic.
The 2022 Audi Q7 facelift is getting an all-around update – both visually and technically. At the front, the large, octagonal Singleframe grille with six vertical slats in chrome gives the SUV a more powerful stance. The new front spoiler design in aluminum-optic underscores the large SUV's ground clearance. The headlights with available HD Matrix-design and Audi laser light emphasize the full width of the model. In profile, the trapezoidal window visually reduces the size of the Q7. At the rear, a chrome strip connects the flat-rear taillights and carries forward the horizontal bodyline. The new 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires are now standard equipment.
The cabin receives a new touch as well as the addition of a new MMI touchscreen.
Inside the Audi Q7 comes with a new MMI touch response system, replacing the rotary dial and the conventional buttons and controls with two large, high-resolution touch displays. The SUV also comes with premium upholstery to give a nice touch of premiumness to the cabin. The India-spec version, however, misses out on the new flat-bottom steering wheel, which is on offer in international markets. The rest of the interior retains the modern, and premium styling, while an air vent strip spans the width of the dashboard, and is underlined by black panel elements.
The rear of the Audi Q7 facelift
The 2022 Audi Q7 facelift will be equipped with an all-new 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine, which generates 335bhp and 500Nm of peak torque, paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission, which is well suited for the low-end torque of the turbocharged V6. As per the norm, the 2022 Audi Q7 facelift also comes with the standard Quattro all-wheel, offering dynamic handling through active torque distribution to both axles. The 2022 Audi Q7 facelift SUV is able to run from 0-100kmph in 5.7 seconds.
