Austrian EV start-up Deus Automobiles revealed its upcoming all-electric hypercar at the New York Auto Show 2022. Called the Vayanne, the sleek looking car is the result of a partnership between Deus, Italdesign and Williams Advanced Engineering and as per the company's claims, it could be one of the most powerful road-going EVs to come to market.
The company says that as per simulations its hypercar will develop near 2,200 bhp - a number placing it above the 1,874 bhp Pininfarina Battista, the 1973 bhp Lotus Evija (pre-production number) and the Rimac Nevera. The top speed is a claimed 400kph with a 0-100kph time expected to be under 1.99 seconds.
Deus says that performance is not the only goal for the Vayanne with a focus also on other aspects such as daily usability and comfortable ride. To that end, Deus says that the Vayanne gets a 120mm of ground clearance and a number of useable storage spaces.
In terms of design, the low slung Vayanne follows the design template of a mid-engine high-performance car with flowing lines and a sleek profile. The most notable design element though is at the rear with the infinity shaped rear vent highlighted by the continuous LED tail-lamp strip.
Inside, the design that will catch your eye is the use of a halo infinity mirror across the dashboard fascia with the lighting effect changing depending on the angle you view it. The typical modern car features such as a digital instrument cluster and central touchscreen feature as well while a third screen sits in a pod-like structure atop the dashboard. Dues also says that the interior is trimmed in natural leather “treated and produced combining sustainable, technologically advanced solutions.”
The Vayanne will go into production in 2025 with just 99 examples being made. The hypercar will sit on a new flexible EV platform currently under joint development by Williams Advanced Engineering and Italdesign under its new partnership signed in April 2021.
