7 Off-beat Places to Visit in India Instead of the Same-Old, Touristy Destinations

Choosing an appropriate location can be quite tough when it comes to planning a trip. More than making reservations or packing, understanding the right destination is hard. Once you start, you will realise that most of the popular tourist destinations have either already been explored or are too congested to feel relaxed. In such a scenario, you need to find unconventional yet beautiful locations. India, being the third-largest country in Asia, has a number of options for the same.

Home to a few of the most scenic places you can be at, not many people know about these locations and end up going to the same destinations over and over again. If you are planning to go on a trip recently but want to avoid the swarm of tourists and other added expenses, these are some places you can check.

Daman and Diu:

When you think of enjoying yourself at a beach, the first name that comes to mind is always Goa. While that is quite a memorable experience, repeated visits can eventually become quite boring with nothing left to explore. In such a scenario, you can visit Daman and Diu for a pocket-friendly and relaxing vacation. Known to be one of the top romantic getaway destinations, you will find peaceful and clean beaches.

Chakrata:

If you are planning to go see the amazing hilltops in Manali, you will be blown away by the scenic beauty in Chakrata. A cantonment town in Dehradun, this is one of the most revered hill stations in Uttarakhand. You can plan your trip during March and June and enjoy a chilly climate in addition to the beautiful mountain ranges here.

Sikkim:

Although a bit more popular than the rest of the names mentioned in this list, Sikkim is an amazing site to visit. Often compared to Ladakh, Sikkim is no less, if not better. Surrounded by snow-clad mountains, Buddhist monasteries and lush greenery, this is a much better choice from October or mid-September. You can also indulge in certain adventure activities here.

Andaman and Nicobar islands:

Another popular choice, the Andaman and Nicobar islands are a must-visit. You will come to see the dense palm groves and colonial monuments that will surely make your trip memorable. In addition to that, if you are looking for some adventure, you can always indulge in myriad water sport options there as well as horse riding. The best time to visit has to be during the months of October to March.

Rishikesh:

Most adventure seekers and pilgrims look forward to visiting Rishikesh, and for good reason. The Ganges tributaries here are known for their rapids, so whether you are a professional or a novice at rafting, you will surely have a great time here. A calm and relaxing place with sports activities like trekking and river rafting, this is one of the best destinations in India that you must not miss out on. It is even easy to reach, making this pocket-friendly trip one to remember.

Mawlynnong:

The majority of the people who like hill stations have already been to Darjeeling once in their lifetime. While it is a great visit with the view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, it is quite crowded and seldom offers a relaxing experience. On the other hand, you can visit Mawlynnong, which is located in Meghalaya and can be called untouched when compared to Darjeeling. This place is considered to be one of Asia's cleanest villages and has a number of natural sightseeing places, including the Living Roots Bridge. The best time to visit here would be some time around March and June.

Tawang:

Located in Arunachal Pradesh, Tawang is a lesser-known destination that can take your breath away. With the Himalayan ranges and snow-clad roads, you will not regret choosing to visit Tawang. There are quite a few leisure activities you can indulge in here. However, if you are looking for some fun and adventure, there are hiking trips as well. Rest assured, Tawang is by far one of the prettiest places mentioned in this list.

These are some of the best places you should visit if you are in India. That said, make sure to book the right hotels and transport to get the best experience. You can even plan for a road trip if you are experienced and confident enough.
