Ampere Vehicles, the electric mobility business of Greaves Cotton Limited, has announced a significant price cut on its electric scooters in Gujarat. The revised prices are a result of the announcement of the Gujarat EV Policy 2021 that saw the state government extend incentives on locally made EVs as well as for infrastructure to support the same. With the revision in price cut, even the large scooters from Ampere Electric have become much more affordable and now start under Rs. 50,000.

The Ampere Magnus electric scooter was previously priced at Rs. 74,990, will now be priced at Rs. 47,990 (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Ampere Zeal that previously retailed at Rs. 68,990, is now available at Rs. 41,990. Both models are ex-showroom and get a reduction of Rs. 27,000.

Both the Ampere Magnus and Zeal electric scooters are designed for last-mile connectivity. The offerings have a top speed of 55 kmph and a range of 75 km on a single charge. The company says that it has about 80,000 electric vehicle customers so far and around 400 outlets spread across 260 towns and cities across the country. Not just Ampere, other EV players have also announced price cuts on their respective offerings. The subsidies aim to encourage more buyers to bring home EVs.
