Benelli India will launch the Benelli Leoncino on August 6, 2019, and will be the second new model from the Benelli brand under new management after the Benelli TRK502 launch earlier this year. The Leoncino is a scrambler-styled neo-retro motorcycle which is based on the same engine as the Benelli TRK 502 and TRK 502X. The Leoncino is available abroad in two variants - with a standard road-biased variant with 17-inch alloy wheels and a slightly more scrambler-style model with a bigger 19-inch front wheel.

The standard Benelli Leoncino is the street-oriented variant with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends
With an unladen weight of 186 kg, the Leoncino will be lighter than the TRK models, but will get the same 499.6 cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine which puts out 47 bhp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 46 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission linked to a chain final drive. The Leoncino will come with a 45 mm upside down front fork with 125 mm of travel. Braking duties are handled by twin 320 mm discs on the front wheel gripped by four-piston calipers and a single 260 mm disc gripped by a single-piston caliper. Dual-channel ABS is standard.
The Leoncino is the scrambler style model from Benelli
The Leoncino is expected to be priced below the middleweight adventure bikes, the TRK 502, which is priced at Rs. 5.10 lakh (ex-showroom) and the TRK 502 X, which is priced at Rs. 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Leoncino is expected to be offered in two variants - a standard variant with 17-inch cast alloy wheels and a slightly off-road oriented scrambler model with a 19-inch front wheel. We expect the Leoncino to be priced at just under Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom). At that price, there is no real competition for the Benelli Leoncino, and the closest competition in its styling and genre is the Ducati Scrambler Icon.
