The Bimota KB4 has been reported in the news for over a year now, and testing photographs have shown the bike in various angles. Now, latest details of some specifications of the new Bimota KB4 have been revealed, ahead of the production model's unveiling later this year. The Bimota KB4 is based on the inline four-cylinder engine of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000, but on the KB4, Bimota added its own tubular steel and carbon fibre chassis to replace the original aluminium design of the Kawasaki.

The 1,043 cc, 16-valve, inline four making the same 140 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 111 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm.
Engine performance though remains the same as the Kawasaki, with the 1,043 cc, 16-valve, inline four making the same 140 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 111 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. However, apart from the engine, the Bimota KB4 will be a completely different machine. The KB4 will be a whopping 41 kg lighter than the Kawasaki Ninja 1000, tipping the scales at 194 kg kerb weight, while the European-spec Ninja 1000 weighs 235 kg kerb weight.

The Bimota KB4 will be a more compact, and lightweight motorcycle, and will be suitable for track use, with a retro-styled sportbike design.
The Bimota KB4 is also physically smaller than the Kawasaki, with the overall length dropping from 2,100 mm to 2,050 mm, width from 825 mm to 774 mm. Overall height is also lower than the Kawasaki, but the most significant change is the wheelbase, which is 1,390 mm on the KB4, compared to 1,440 mm on the Ninja 1000. The reduced wheelbase is a result of the front wheel having moved closer to the frame, which has resulted in the radiator being moved elsewhere. Nevertheless, with a short wheelbase, lighter mass and the same performance, the KB4 promises to be an entertaining package, when it's introduced in production form. More details will be revealed at the EICMA 2021 where it's expected to be unveiled.
