BMW Motorrad India has confirmed that the C 400 GT maxi-scooter will go on sale on October 12, 2021. The company has updated its social media handles to reflect the same and the model will be the country's largest displacement scooter and also the first proper maxi-scooter to be sold here. The BMW C 400 GT is likely to arrive a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs. 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom), also making the most expensive scooter to be on sale in India.

At present, maxi-scooters sold in India include the locally-developed Aprilia SXR 160 and SXR 125, as well as the Suzuki Burgman Street 125, which use an Indianised version of the bodystyle without the larger displacement engine. The newly-launched Yamaha Aerox 155 comes quite close but maxi-scooters traditionally use more powerful options and offer ample comfort and touring ability.
The BMW C 400 GT ticks all the right boxes then with the massive bodywork that gives it a muscular look, a tall windscreen, pulled-back handlebar, and larger step seat. It's also loaded on features with LED lighting, keyless ignition, heated grips and seat, anti-theft security system, Bluetooth-enabled instrument console, traction control, dual-channel ABS, ride-by-wire enabled riding modes and more.
The C 400 GT packs 33.5 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque from its 350 cc motor
The BMW C 400 GT is powered by a 350 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine tuned for 33.5 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque available at 5,750 rpm. The engine is paired to a CVT unit. The maxi-scooter has a top speed of 139 kmph.
Bookings for the new BMW C 400 GT have been open at BMW Motorrad dealerships across the country for a while now. The brand has already received over 100 orders for the maxi-scooter for a token of Rs. 1 lakh, while deliveries are likely to begin soon after the launch. The model does not have a direct rival in India unless Honda decides to bring the Forza 350 maxi-scooter in the future.
