BMW India has launched its latest M model in the country, the all-new BMW M4 Competition xDrive, at a price of Rs. 1.43 crore (ex-showroom, India), making it the 10th high-performance M product in the company's India line-up. The new BMW M4 Competition xDrive, available in its petrol guise, was recently driven by Siddharth in the US, and while he couldn't control the grin on his face, he wasn't too happy about parting ways with the car either. Before anything else, let's get down to the numbers. The new BMW M4 Competition xDrive features a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, straight-six engine that develops 501bhp and 650Nm of torque, mated to 8-speed M Steptronic, that powers all four wheels via the xDrive system. This allows the almost 1.8-tonne juggernaut to catapult from standstill to 100kmph in flat 3.5 seconds, while the next 100kmph is achieved in 12.5 seconds, before limiting itself to a top speed of 290kmph. The fully-variable, rear-biased system distributes torque between the front and rear axles via an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, while an M Active Differential takes care of torque distribution at the rear axle. And for quicker responses, both the M xDrive and Active M differential are connected directly to the Dynamic Stability Control System, resulting in better agility, and control over both understeer and oversteer.

The BMW M4 Competition is one of the most gorgeous-looking M models, as the high-performance sports car not only features modern design language but is also built for practicality as a daily driver. Contributing to this, is the large, vertical BMW kidney grille with horizontal bars up front, flanked by sculpted wheel arches with M gills and the prominently extended side sills with attachment parts for the front and rear aprons. The Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Laserlight comes as standard fitment on the BMW M4 Competition xDrive. The roof is made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) with aerodynamically optimised fins, a rear spoiler, and two pairs of exhaust tailpipes. The profile is enhanced with the 19-inch M light-alloy wheels at the front and 20-inch at the rear are shod with 275/35 ZR19 and 285/30 ZR20 tyres. As far as practicality goes, the M4 Competition offers a generous boot space of 440-litre.

A standout highlight of the options list is the new M Carbon bucket seats with a structure-based design. The standard equipment list includes three-zone automatic climate control, LED interior lighting including ambient lighting, and a hi-fi speaker system. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional consists of a 12.3-inch screen digital instrument cluster., and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, that can be controlled via the iDrive controller, as well as from the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel, voice control, or gesture controls.

The BMW M4 Competition xDrive is also loaded to the brim with the latest driver assistance systems such as Park Distance Control with sensors at the front and rear, Cruise Control with brake function and Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, the Lane Departure Warning system including lane return with steering assistance, the Attentiveness Assistant and the Speed Limit Info system. Moreover, you also get Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Active Navigation function, Emergency Lane Assistant, BMW Drive Recorder, and the latest generation of the BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific content.
