BMW Motorrad has launched its touring range of motorcycles in India. This flagship range of heavyweight touring motorcycles include four models, the R 1250 RT, K 1600 B, K 1600 GTL & the K 1600 Grand America. Prices for the touring range start at Rs. 23.95 lakh for the R 1250 RT, and go all the way up to Rs. 33 lakh (Ex-Showroom) for the top of the line K 1600 Grand America.

The BMW R 1250 RT gets the familiar 1,254 cc twin-cylinder boxer engine, which powers the legendary R 1250 GS. Power output is rated at 134 bhp at 7,750 rpm & the engine produces 143 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. This pushes the 279 kg tourer to 100 kmph from standstill in just 3.7 seconds. The updated R 1250 RT now gets a new front fairing and a full LED headlamp. As expected, the luxury tourer comes loaded with tech, and this includes a large 10.25-inch full-HD TFT colour display with navigation and smartphone connectivity, a speaker system, BMW ShiftCam variable camshaft control system, wireless smartphone charger, USB charging port, radar guided active cruise control, keyless entry, heated grips & seats, and more.
The BMW R 1250 RT gets the same 1254 cc boxer engine as the R 1250 GS.
The tourer is offered in four colour options, those being Style Triple Black, Style Sport (Blue), Alpine White, & Option 719 Mineral White Metallic With Stripes. The R 1250 RT also gets 70 litres of onboard storage as standard, making it an ideal touring machine right from the minute of purchase, without the need of accessories. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels, and is made with highway touring in mind, unlike its engine-sibling - the R 1250 GS - which is a full blown adventure motorcycle.
The BMW K 1600 series is the Bavarian automaker's flagship touring motorcycle series, and it gets three models - The K 1600 B (K 1600 Bagger), K 1600 GTL, & the top-of-the-line K 1600 Grand America. Powering the motorcycles is a 1,649 cc inline six-cylinder motor, which remains to be the only inline-six engine on a production motorcycles available now. Output is huge as expected, with 158 bhp at 6,750 rpm and a whopping 180 Nm torque at 5,250 rpm.
The K 1600 B is the most accessible motorcycle of the 1600 trio, with a price tag of Rs. 29.90 lakh (Ex-showroom). The motorcycle gets a bagger style elongated body, and packs in many features that justify its hefty price tag. Apart from the equipment already on offer on the R 1250 RT, the K 1600 B also gets audio system 2.0, floor boards to rest your feet on a highway cruise, and even floor lighting to make it stand out. The motorcycle is offered in two colour options, Style Exclusive (Dark brownish green), & Blackstorm Metallic.

Adding to the already luxurious K 1600 B, the BMW K 1600 GTL gets a big pillion backrest, meaning that two people can go on a long cruise on this motorcycle in supreme comfort and luxury. The pillion seat backrest also gets integrated storage, taking the total storage capacity of the motorcycle up to 113 litres, from 66 litres on the K 1600 B. The rear section of the motorcycle also gets a different design. The motorcycle is offered in two variants and three colour options - Style Exclusive (blue metallic), Black Storm Metallic, and Option 719 Mineral White Metallic With Stripes, which is similar to the finish offered on the R 1250 RT.

The BMW K 1600 Grand America gets all the bells and whistles that you could dream of on a touring motorcycle. The motorcycle builds on everything that is on offer on the K 1600 B, and adds to it. Most notable changes are at the rear of the K 1600 Grand America, where the topcase is a different unit than the K 1600 GTL which also provides a backrest for the pillion. The design is more in line to the K 1600 B than the K 1600 GTL, and this is essentially a K 1600 B with the big topcase & pillion seat backrest.
The K 1600 Grand America's topcase gets integrated speakers for the pillion, and a USB charging socket.
In addition to the different design, the topcase now also has built in speakers for the pillion rider, and a USB charging socket. The tail lights are also present on the topcase along with the panniers, unlike K 1600 GTL, where the tail light is on the body of the motorcycle. The K 1600 Grand America is offered with the same two colour options as the K 1600 B, which include Style Exclusive (Dark brownish green), & Blackstorm Metallic.
