French carmaker, Bugatti is currently gearing up to unveil its next marvel that will succeed the iconic Bugatti Veyron - the Bugatti Chiron. The carmaker recently teased the name and a silhouette of the car in a very special Christmas card, announcing that the world premiere of the Bugatti Chiron will be held at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Bugatti has been one of those rear breed of carmakers, who have built their empire one car at a time. Earlier it was the Bugatti Veyron that was the crown jewel of the Molsheim-based carmaker, which achieve the world record for being the fastest production car with a top speed of 431 kmph. Towards the end of 2014, Bugatti officially announced that it will end the production of Veyron with its 450th unit - Christened LaFinale, a Grand Sport Vitesse, which was later showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. It was at the event where Bugatti announced that it is working on the Veyron's successor - the Bugatti Chiron.
Unlike the Veyron, the name Chiron itself comes with its own legacy. The next Bugatti has been named after Louis Chiron, a legendary racing driver who won virtually all the major grand prix for the brand in the 1920s and 1930s. Wolfgang Durheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. had earlier said that "The name of the best racing driver and the most successful Bugatti driver of his time for the best super sports car of the present day - that is the ideal combination."

Coming to the car itself, currently the Bugatti Chiron is undergoing its final testing phase and a number of prototypes are on the road in several continents for the fine tuning of the vehicle. The car is expected to be lighter and is likely to come with a more evolved version of the quad-turbo 8-litre, W16 engine, which could deliver an incredible 1480bhp, which makes it about 25 % more powerful than the Veyron's top 1184bhp 8.0-liter W-16 beast.
As for its top speed, the Bugatti Veyron was the first production car to cross the 400 kmph barrier and as the Chiron is meant to surpass it. It is believed that the Chiron will be able to do 500kmph, which will again make it the fastest and most powerful production car in the world.
Bugatti says it has already received more than 100 orders for the car from its exclusive potential buyers, which is believed to cost around 2.2 million euros (approximately $2.4 million). Like the Veyron the Bugatti Chiron too will be produced in limited numbers, but what's more satisfying is that Bugatti has planned production run of 500 units of the car, which is 50 units more than the units of Veyron produced.
