The Ducati Streetfighter V4, the Italian bike maker's flagship naked motorcycle, has been crowned the Premium Sports Motorcycle of the Year at the 2022 carandbike Awards. The Streetfighter is packed with the Panigale-derived V4 engine and is an absolute beast on two wheels. It just blew the jury and competition away with its power and ride-ability, which sealed the victory for Ducati. But the competition this year was not exactly easy for the Streetfighter with the Suzuki Hayabusa and the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS also contention in the category.
In fact, it was a tough choice for the jurors to select between the two performance bikes that were the highlight of the day - Suzuki Hayabusa and the Ducati Streetfighter V4. The new-generation Hayabusa convinced every CNB jury member just how nimble and versatile the bike is. With its outrageous yet accessible performance and iconic design language, the race track for the perfect place to let the peregrine falcon take flight.
The Hayabusa would've sealed the win too, had the Ducati Streetfighter not been up next. The hyper-naked motorcycle was nothing short of a hooligan on track with the V4 symphony echoing through the track at the twist of the throttle. There was no denying that the Streetfighter V4 was in a class of its own and even though the other offerings including the were equally formidable, every jury member came back raving about the Streetfighter V4's performance unanimously voting for the same.
Talking about numbers, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 draws power from the 1103 cc, V4 engine. It's tuned to produce 205 bhp at 13,000 rpm and 122 Nm of peak torque at 9,500 rpm. The Desmosedici Stradale engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quick-shifter. The aggressive design is a head-turner and adding to the sportiness are the MotoGP style bi-plane wings mounted on each side. Ducati claims they generate 28 kg of downforce at 270 kmph. Our jury managed a top speed of 286 kmph on the back straight of the Buddh International Circuit.
Other features include three riding modes, a 6-axis IMU, cornering ABS, traction control, slide control, wheelie control, power launch, engine brake control and semi-active electronic suspension. The Ducati Streetfighter V4 is priced from Rs. 21.04 lakh, going up to Rs. 24.24 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
