The recent torrential rains and floods in Chennai and its surrounds areas have actually taken a heavy toll on the state of Tamil Nadu. Apart from affecting life and property, the rains also brought the production operations of a number of India automakers to a standstill. Understanding the distress of the state, leading Indian automakers have pitched in to offer their support both with funds and services. The latest addition to this list is popular two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto.

Apparently Bajaj Auto and Bajaj Finance have jointly contributed a sum of Rs. 10 Crore towards flood relief in Tamil Nadu. Both have donated an amount of Rs. 5 crore each, for the Prime Minister National Relief Fund. The company's official statement says that both Bajaj Auto and Finance have contributed this amount to provide relief efforts in the flood ravaged areas in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu.

According to reports the recent rains and floods that engulfed Chennai and its surrounding areas was the worst flood to have devastated the state. Over 500 persons have been estimated to have been killed, houses were destroyed and factories were temporarily shut down due in this calamity.

Mr. Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto and Bajaj Finance stated, "Tamil Nadu and particularly Chennai has seen unforeseen disaster and damage to property and infrastructure worth crores of rupees. We feel the grief of our fellow citizens in the state and they need our help at this critical time to come out of this tragedy and to rebuild their lives. We are joining the government's effort to help in relief operations in flood-ravaged Tamil Nadu and provide all support to the affected countrymen in the state."
Earlier Bajaj Auto, along with TVS Motors, Yamaha Motors and Eicher Motors initiates free service camp for 10 days. These service points were established in Chennai and its surrounding areas or people to come in and get free service for vehicles that were damaged during the floods. The free service camp was to be held between 12th Dec to 21st Dec 2015.
