There is one category of all types of motorcycles with gear. If you want a license for driving a car or a jeep or a similar light vehicle, the license is for a light motor vehicle. You have to be eligible for applying for a license to drive. If you are 16 years of age or above, you can apply for a driving license for a vehicle of engine capacity 50 cc and below. You must be 18 years and above for driving a vehicle of the private category. If you are above 20 years of age, you can apply for a license for driving a commercial vehicle. So, age is a factor in deciding the eligibility of obtaining a driving license. You should be aware of the traffic rules. You will be tested on your knowledge of traffic lights and signs.

The online application saves your time and it is more convenient. You don't have to visit the transport office for purchasing the forms and submit them. It can be done from the comfort of your home.
You should visit the website of the Ministry of Road Transport. The address is parivahan.gov.in. You have to click on ‘online services'. Now, you have to click on ‘driving license related services'. You have to select the name of the state. Now, click on ‘apply online'. After this step, you should select ‘new driving license'. You have to submit the learner's driving test number and the relevant documents including your date of birth. Now, you have to select the driving test date. You should go to the transport office to verify the documents submitted. You must pass the driving test. Once you pass the test, you will be delivered the license within 7 days. If you fail to pass the test, you have the option of taking the test once again.
