Ferrari North America has recalled a total of 19 models, roughly 23,555 cars, dating back to 2005 due to possible brake failure. What it means is that everything from the 2005 Ferrari 430 to the 2022 Ferrari Roma share this same flaw. However, the recall is issued only for the USA models that were fitted with a potentially faulty brake fluid reservoir cap that may not vent pressure adequately, leading to a vacuum in the reservoir, potentially causing brake fluid to leak. Additionally, these vehicles include both current and discontinued models.

According to a statement released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the repair consists of replacing the brake fluid reservoir cap and updating the software in the affected vehicles to provide a different warning message if the vehicle should lose sufficient brake fluid. Ferrari will send a notice letter to all affected vehicle owners to warn them of this issue, and instruct them to contact an authorized Ferrari dealer to schedule the free recall repair, and that in the meantime, remind them that if the “low Brake Fluid” warning message appears on the vehicle dashboard, the driver should pull off the road as soon as it is safe to do so, and then contact Ferrari Roadside Assistance and get towed to the nearest authorized Ferrari dealer.

Ferrari also updated that the concerned owners will be contacted by or before September 24, 2022, to schedule an appointment to have the recall work performed.
