The Fisker Force 1 is all set to debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Danish automotive designer Henrik Fisker has teased a sketch of his latest sports car endeavour ahead of its official unveiling at next month's motor expose. 50 units of the car are expected to be built with each set to retail at a base price of just under $300,000, pitting it against other supercars like the Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari 458 Italia, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and McLaren 12C, all of which are positioned in a lower price bracket.

Fisker has said that the Force 1 was developed with the help of an acclaimed American race car driver although the name of said driver has not been revealed. As of now, very little is known regarding the car's underpinnings and powertrain but the car has been confirmed to feature Pirelli P Zero tyres wrapped around 21-inch alloys, a light-weight carbon fibre body-shell, active suspension, and Ultra-Thin Ventilated (UTV) laser-blade tail-lamp units. As reported by Digital Trends, Fisker has claimed that the Force 1 will be powered by the 'world's most powerful naturally aspirated engine'. It will be mounted in a front-centre layout and will power the rear wheels. Transmission duties are reported to be performed by either a 6-speed manual box or an autobox with paddle shifters.
Looking at the Force 1, the only clear design elements that can be gauged include the fact that the car is likely to be a 2-seater sports coupe with flared wheel arches and a pair of low-drag NACA air inlets. Despite the company positioning the Force 1 as a premium sports car, it's also expected to be a good city commuter. Fisker stated," I believe there is room in the market for a daily driver that embodies all the attributes of the best track racing car, and the comfort of a luxurious sports car. Extreme power, great aesthetics and pristine handling make for a superior ride in Force 1, an American super car."
The Fisker Force 1 is likely to be assembled at the company's new Engineering and Development Centre in Pontiac, Michigan with production set to begin in April 2016. Henrik Fisker is a renowned automobile designer responsible for the Fisker Karma and the Mustang-based Fisker Galpin Rocket. His personal portfolio also includes the Artega GT, BMW Z8, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and the iconic Aston Martin DB9. Fisker Automotive filed for bankruptcy in 2013 due to poor management and severe financial losses sustained on the company's first attempt at making a hybrid-sports sedan, the Fisker Karma. The company was bought over in early 2014 by Chinese parts supplier, Wanxiang Group, with the sales deal closing at $149.2 million.
