Bit by bit, all the dominoes in the global auto industry are falling crippled by the global semiconductor crisis brought upon by the combination of COVID19, a massive surge in demand for consumer electronics owning to the world from home phenomenon and geopolitical tensions between the US and China. Ford is the latest victim of the shortage of automotive chips which both the CEOs of TSMC and Intel have claimed would rebound by the next quarter of the year. Ford is facing issues about the supply of parts for its latest EV - the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Ford estimates orders for the Mach-E which were scheduled to be delivered by early July would be delayed till October amounting to a minimum 6-week delay. To appease Mach-E owners, Ford is offering an additional 250 kWh of complimentary charging worth $75 on top of the standard 250 kWh totalling 500 kWh.
