The state-owned oil marketing companies on Friday increased fuel prices for the third consecutive day. With the latest revision, petrol and diesel in Delhi have become costlier by 35 paise taking them to new all-time highs. Customers in the national capital now will have to pay Rs. 106.89 a litre for petrol and Rs. 95.62 a litre for diesel. In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol is inching towards the Rs. 113-mark, currently priced at Rs. 112.78 a litre while diesel retails at Rs. 103.63 a litre. Fuel rates vary across the states due to value-added tax (VAT).

Other metro cities also witnessed a similar hike in fuel rates. Petrol rates in Chennai jumped to Rs. 103.92 a litre while diesel nears Rs. 100-mark, currently priced at Rs. 99.92 a litre. Fuel prices in Kolkata soared to Rs. 107.44 a litre and Rs. 98.73 a litre, respectively. In Bengaluru and Hyderabad, petrol has touched Rs. 110.61 a litre and Rs. 111.18 a litre, while diesel in these cities is priced at Rs. 101.49 a litre and Rs. 104.32 a litre, respectively.

In Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district, fuel prices continue to remain the most expensive as customers have to pay Rs. 119.05 a litre for petrol and Rs. 109.88 a litre for diesel. In the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, petrol has almost surpassed the Rs 118-mark, currently standing at Rs. 117.95 a litre while diesel is priced at Rs. 107.14 a litre. Customers in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh have to shell out Rs. 118.35 a litre and Rs. 107.50 a litre for petrol and diesel, respectively. Fuel rates in Parbhani district of Maharashtra have touched Rs. 115.31 a litre and diesel Rs. 104.47 a litre.
