General Motors has announced three new recalls in the US which will affect more than 1.5 million vehicles. The major problem among the new issues involves the side-mounted airbag wiring in 1.2 million crossovers and SUVs which includes the likes of the 2008 to 2013 Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia SUVs, 2009 to 2013 Chevrolet Traverse crossovers and 2008 to 2010 Saturn Outlook crossovers.
The vehicles that have been affected show a "Service Air Bag" warning light, which may lead to the airbags being disabled in certain instances, though the company has not associated the defect with any injuries or deaths.
The company has also recalled more than 300,000 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana commercial vans, which have been deemed hazardous due to an instrument-panel material that can cause injuries to passengers if they are not wearing a seatbelt.
The list of recalls doesn't end here as the company also plans to resolve an issue with the brakes in the Cadillac XTS sedans due to an overheating issue. The problem has been associated with two fires, though it has not been linked to any injuries or deaths.
CEO Marry Barra, said in a statement, "I asked our team to redouble our efforts on our pending product reviews, bring them forward and resolve them quickly,"
GM's woes in India with the Tavera and the Sail U-VA and Sail sedan might be over but they need a boost when it comes to the sales figures.
