(Naveen Munjal, Managing Director, Hero Electric, feels that the Gujarat EV Policy is an excellent move)

Naveen Munjal, MD, Hero Electric said, "The revised EV policy by the state of Gujarat post the recent amendments of the central FAME policy is an excellent move which will further bridge the gap and make the switch to electric vehicles an attractive option. With this policy, the prices of Hero's EVs will further come down making them the most affordable in the state of Gujarat when compared to pricing across the country. Further, the allocation of funds and capital to setup additional charging stations will help build the much-needed charging infrastructure and address range anxiety of the consumer.

Gujarat plans to have at least two lakh electric vehicles on the roads in the next four years. Gujarat will give double the subsidy of any other state on per kilowatt. The government of Gujarat has also green-lit the setting up of 250 new EV chargers across the state, with 278 units already deployed. The total tally of EV charging points will reach 528 in the next four years. The government will also make it easier for petrol pumps to house EV charging stations. The plan also includes setting up EV charging stations at various commercial and housing infrastructures. The state government will provide 25 per cent capital subsidy for setting up charging stations with a maximum limit of Rs. 10 lakh.

(Akash Gupta, Co-founder and CEO, Zypp Electric, feels that the Gujarat EV Policy will help the development of infrastructure in the state)

Akash Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of Zypp Electric, said, "We at Zypp Electric want to thank and welcome the move by the Gujarat Government to come up with this bold EV Policy, offering incentive support for all categories of electric vehicles, especially a subsidy of up to Rs 20,000 on electric two-wheelers, up to Rs 50,000 on electric three-wheelers. This move by any state government clearly shows a strong resolve of the government towards a cleaner environment and a sustainable future for the country. This policy will not only encourage people to buy e-vehicles, but also invest in the required development of infrastructure for electric vehicles, like battery charging stations. This EV Policy has a potential to make Gujarat an EV hub and would mobilize a rapid adoption of electric vehicles in the state. This policy will also give employment opportunities in all areas, including sales, lending, charging, driving and training. This policy will also boost especially the new start-ups and investments in this field. If the target of 2 lakh electric cars on Gujarat roads is met with resounding success, fuel worth Rs 5 crore will be saved and CO2 emissions will be reduced by a minimum of 6 lakh tonnes. So that a more environment-friendly and sustainable future can be built for our next generations."
