Honda completes 25 years in Philippines this year and to show its appreciation towards its customers, the Japanese auto giant introduced the City Limited Edition model in the country at the sixth Philippine International Motor Show earlier this month.
Honda Cars Philippines (HCP) has launched the new City 1.5 E Limited Edition in a single variant priced at 8,24,000 Philippine Peso (around Rs. 11.53 lakh). For the premium, the Honda City Limited Edition comes equipped with LED daytime running lights (DRLs), door visors and a limited edition emblem on the boot-lid to differentiate from the regular version. In aesthetics, the Filipino City looks identical to the one sold in India.
The cabin remains the same, but the Limited Edition City gets keyless fob panic button, which enables the vehicle to emit a loud alarm and flash its headlights and hazard lights when the user long presses the button. You also get a speed sending door lock that automatically bolts all doors as the vehicle reaches the speed of 15 km/h.
Filipino Spec Honda City Interior
Power on the Filipino spec Honda City comes from the same 1.5-litre petrol i-VTEC engine seen on the Indian version, tuned for 118bhp and 145Nm of torque. The Limited Edition is available only with a CVT unit, while a 5-speed manual is available on the regular E trim. The Euro4 compliant motor returns 26.02 km/l on the City in Philippines.
HCP is offering the limited edition version of the sedan in three colours - Ruby Red Pearl, Taffeta White and Golden Brown Metallic.
One of the best sellers for Honda Cars India, the fourth generation City will be receiving a mid-life facelift next year that is expected to keep the model fresh as it faces stiff competition from the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, which has clearly caught up in terms of sales. The next generation Hyundai Verna will also be making its India debut next year to take on other C-segment offerings. Expect to see a tweaked design language and hopefully a lot more features than the outgoing version.
