Honda revealed its global EV plans for the decade ending 2030 with a target of launching up to 30 new electric vehicles in global markets. The carmaker also teased two new electric sportscars – one with traditional GT styling while the other featuring a more mid-engine sportscar look. The carmaker also announced plans to open new EV manufacturing facilities in North America and China, plans for sourcing and developing EV battery packs, developing it's Honda Sensing and Honda Connect connected technologies and more.
Starting with the two new sports cars, Honda says that one is “a specialty” while the second is “a flagship model”. Little is known of the two cars though reports suggest that one could preview a successor to the current Honda/Acura NSX. Moving to the second, the covered concept has a typical grand tourer cab-backwards design with a long bonnet and flowing lines and could preview a spiritual successor to the iconic S 2000.
Moving to more mainstream products, Honda says that it is targeting to launch two new EV models in North America by 2024 – namely the Next-gen Prologue SUV and a new Acura electric SUV. The company also revealed that it planned to introduce affordable EVs with competitive cost and range to gasoline vehicles by 2027 in North America. Moving to the Chinese market Honda plans to introduce 10 new EVs by 2027. In its home market of Japan, the company says it plans to introduce a commercial mini-EV in 2024 followed up by a mini-EV for personal use and an EV SUV.

The company also announced some major financial measures including investment of up to 8 trillion yen into research and development over the next 10 years and funding promising start-ups to the tune of 10 billion yen per year.

The carmaker also announced an organisational change saying that it had shifted from having product-based divisions such as cars, bikes etc to divisions focusing on core areas such as electrified products and services, battery, hydrogen and software/connected technologies. The company said that this would help it enhance “cross-domain” synergies and accelerate development.
