Hyundai India has officially launched its Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) in India and it will be offered with the Venue subcompact SUV. The new clutch-less manual transmission technology will be offered with the SX and the SX(O) variants, and it will be powered by the 1.0-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine, which is tuned to make 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. It's priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh and Rs. 11.08 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively. Additionally, the carmaker has also launched new Sport Trim for the Hyundai Venue, which comes with both petrol and diesel options and is priced between Rs. 10.20 lakh and Rs. 11.52 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The Hyundai Venue Sport Trim will include 3 variant - SX, SX(O), and SX+. The petrol version with the 1.0 T-GDI engine is offered in all three variants, and the top-end SX+ comes with the 7-speed DCT automatic transmission with the addition of new paddle shifters. The SX and SX(O) trim, like the regular Venue will come with the new 6-speed iMT gearbox. The diesel version, on the other hand, is only offered in the SX and SX(O) trim, with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. It is powered by the with the BS6 compliant 1.5-litre U2 CRDi engine offering 98.6 bhp and 240 Nm torque.

As for the new Venue Sport Trim model, visually, the SUV comes with few styling updates like - red exterior accents for grille, wheel arches and roof rails, a Sport emblem, red brake calipers, and new dark grey bumper garnish. Hyundai has also introduced a new Dual Tone Titan Grey with Phantom Black Roof, along with the existing Dual Tone Polar White with Phantom Black Roof for the Venue Sport. The cabin, on the other hand, comes with flat-bottom steering wheel with red stitching, new metal foot pedals, dark grey upholstery, red accents for the knobs, along with red stitching and piping for upholstery and door trims.

The Transmission Control Unit (TCU) receives a signal from the TGS Lever Intention Sensor, indicating the driver's desire to change gears
The Hyundai Venue with the iMT unit gets just two pedals to operate - accelerator and brake. It will get a gearshift lever with the 6-speed H pattern, but will not need a clutch pedal to change gears. Instead, Hyundai explains that a Transmission Control Unit (TCU) that sends a signal to engage the hydraulic actuator forming hydraulic pressure, which is sent to the Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) through a clutch tube. The CSC then uses this pressure to control the clutch and pressure plate, which engages and disengages the clutch. The driver is then able to change the gear without having the need to depress the clutch lever, like in a car with manual transmission.

Hyundai has also launched a new S+ variant of the Venue priced at Rs. 8.31 lakh
Owing to strong customer demand, the company has also launched a new S+ variant of the Venue with the 1.2-litre Petrol BS6 engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new variant will feature Projector Headlamps and Projector Fog Lamp, LED Tail Lamps and 8-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The new variant is priced at Rs. 8.31 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
