As widely reported by us earlier this year, the F-Pace will soon be launched in India and now one of the first ever cars have been spotted on the streets in Mumbai. Finished in a shade of red, the F-Pace looks rather menacing while in the company of other more affordable cars. The Jaguar F-Pace will indeed be launched very soon with pricing expected to be around the Rs 60-90 lakh mark for the entry level version. Its only real competition in the market will be the slightly smaller and more premium SUVs like the GLE-Coupe, the Porsche Macan and of course, the Land Rover Evoque. The Evoque though will be slightly cheaper than the F-Pace.
Jaguar F-Pace Rear
In terms of engines, the F-Pace will initially be available only with a diesel engine range with the petrol to follow soon. There will be two diesel engines on offer. The smaller 2.0-litre diesel makes 180bhp of peak power and 430Nm of peak torque. 0-100Km/h times are rated at a slightly slow 8.9 seconds while the top speed is 209Km/h. The 2.0-litre diesel comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and could be offered with a rear wheel drive only package to keep overall costs down.
The 3.0-litre TDV6 is the larger engine on offer and will come in the R-Sport trim level. The engine makes 300bhp of peak power and 700Nm of peak torque which puts it in just on the fence of the 'performance SUV' category. This engine is mated to an eight-speed gearbox and all-wheel-drive setup. The R-Sport will also be slightly different with larger and better looking alloy-wheels and sportier styling from the larger bumpers on offer.
Although there is no current indication of the petrol motor coming in, the F-Pace will soon get one to appeal to the quickly growing petrol audiences. The F-Pace will come with a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 that produces 380bhp of peak power and 450Nm of peak torque. The petrol is also mated to an eight-speed gearbox with all-wheel-drive as standard. Expect the F-Pace petrol to be badged the F-Pace S in India like it is worldwide.
The Jaguar F-Pace is slated to be launched in the next few months after JLR India have launched the new upgraded Jaguar XF in India. The new F-Pace will most definitely help Jaguar pull its socks up in India and give the brand a much needed push in the right direction.
