The brand Jeep is synonymous with adventure, outdoors and ability. The iconic American manufacturer has been busy with drawing up new plans for the future and has now confirmed them. Jeep will be working on a Grand Wagoneer, a Jeep Wagoneer and a Jeep pickup based on the Wrangler. The Grand Wagoneer and the Jeep Wagoneer will be based on the Grand Cherokee though.
(Jeep Mopar Crew Chief Concept-Pickup)Fiat Chrysler Auto will be investing $ 1 billion in the modernisation of its Warren Truck Assembly plant in Michigan and the Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio. The Michigan plant will be responsible for the manufacturing of the Grand Wagoneer and the Jeep Wagoneer while the Toledo plant will be set up to manufacture the Jeep pickup. The modernisation of these two plants should be complete by 2020. Jeep also says that this modernisation phase will generate at least 2,000 jobs.

The new platform will be mostly steel but make use of aluminium and plastic as well so as to reduce weight. The pickup might make use of the current 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine along with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF. Jeep just might also bring in a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine or a turbo-diesel as well.
