Jeep India has recalled a voluntary recall for the Wrangler SUV in the country. 39 examples of the fully-imported Wrangler have been affected by the recall, all of which were manufactured between January 24 and March 17, 2020. Jeep India says that the affected vehicles possibly have a faulty fuel connector, which may have a propensity to crack and could lead to fuel leakage, creating a fire hazard. The automaker clarified that it's unaware of MY2020 Jeep Wrangler customers reporting a fuel leak or a fire. The locally assembled version also remains unaffected by the recall.

The faulty fuel line connector could cause fuel leakage creating a fire hazard
Speaking on the recall, Nipun Mahajan - Head of Jeep India, said, "Customer safety and the quality of our vehicles are the topmost priorities for us. Thanks to our continuous and stringent quality control processes this issue was identified early. Trained technicians at our authorised workshops across the country will conduct the necessary checks and procedures, at no cost to the customers."
The voluntary recall will commence from November 1, 2021. The company's dealerships will contact the affected customers individually and the faulty part will be first inspected and then replaced if necessary at the authorised workshops. Jeep has identified the affected cars by the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

The Jeep Wrangler is now locally assembled in India and these models are not affected by the recall
The Jeep Wrangler is powered by the 2.0-litre petrol engine that belts out 268 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV is priced from Rs. 55.15 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards in the country and is locally assembled at the company's plant near Pune.
