India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL) sold 532,113 units of two-wheelers during the month of July 2016. This is a growth of 9.13 per cent over the corresponding month last year (July 2015) when the company had sold 487,580 units.

Royal Enfield clearly celebrated its performance in July 2016 as the company grew by 31 per cent year-on-year by selling 52,128 units last month as compared to 39,867 units during the same month last year. Exports also saw a growth of 40 per cent as the company exported 1250 units in July 2016 as against the 893 units in July 2015.
Talking to carandbike.com, Royal Enfield's CEO Mr. Siddhartha Lal commented, "We have had a wonderful quarter. We had a great top line go; I am talking about the Royal Enfield business. We have been able to really expand our margins, for the first time we have crossed 30% in our margin which is really big one for us as well on the financial front. Of course all this has come on the back of the strong franchise that we have created over the last many years for the Royal Enfield range of motorcycles and we have been able to spread that now in smaller markets, smaller towns. So the motorcycle in this season growing very quickly, we are able to get penetration into newer markets and we are also increasing our same store sales in big cities, so all around we continue to get our growth, which has continued our top line, which has continued to drive our operating margins"

Creating yet another milestone this year, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) sold 4,53,844 lakh two wheelers in the country in July this year, its highest monthly sales ever. The company also broke the record of selling the highest automatic scooters in a month at 3,09,144 units. Furthermore, the bike maker saw its highest ever exports in July 2016 with 24,317 units shipped. The immense growth has also reflected in the company's overall market share that stands at 29.1 per cent in the domestic market, while its share in domestic and export market is 27 per cent, a hike of 2 per cent.
July saw HMSI sales grew 17 per cent on a year-on-year basis, nearly twice the size of the overall two wheeler market that grew at 9 per cent. Domestic sales grew by 16 per cent, with scooter sales crossing the 3 lakh mark for the first time, led by the very popular Activa. The scooter segment individually grew by 19 per cent for Honda, while motorcycle sales increased by 7 per cent.
HMSI Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yadvinder Singh Guleria said, "July has been a historic month for Honda 2Wheelers India. The new capacity of our fourth plant has given us wings to not only grow faster than the industry but create 4 records in one month. Crossing the 4.5 lakh unit sales mark in July'16 and growing at 21% nearly double that of the total 2Wheeler industry in the first 4 months of FY'16-17 gives us more confidence of a bumper festive season ahead."

India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd also announced a 12 per cent growth in domestic sales (including Nepal) in July 2016 by selling 65,244 units as against 58,477 units sold last July. The company has witnessed positive growth now and will have the new bikes like the MT-09 in the market soon. Yamaha is also constantly focussing on the scooter market in the country and had launched the disc-brake variant of its Cygnus Alpha and Cygnus Ray-ZR scooters. Yamaha's increasing focus on expanding to tier II and III cities, thus reaching out to larger groups of the target population has also been instrumental in boosting sales.
Commenting on the company's sustained growth, Mr. Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, "Yamaha as a brand in India is gradually getting connected to customers very well as the sales of the new products introduced in 2016 is picking up. Similar to performance bikes and commuter bikes, scooter market is also growing in India, Yamaha's strong sales growth is indicating that the customer base has multiplied, which can be attributed to its investment in overall strategy, building customer touch-points, service quality and spare parts availability.
Bajaj Auto
Chakan based two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto sold 174,324 units in the Domestic market as against previous year's 143,324 units registering a growth of over 21 per cent year on year. However company's exports declined by over -20 per cent as the company exported 111,203 units as against 138,762 units in July 2015
