There is no doubting the fact that the Ninja H2R is one of the fastest motorcycles on the face of the earth, if not the fastest. Team 38, a racing club, will be participating at the Bonneville Speed Week with a Kawasaki Ninja H2R. The world famous event, held at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA is where the world's fastest speed trials are held. Due to adverse weather, Team 38 could not participate in last year's event and had to enter the 'Mojave Mile' contest at the very last moment. The Ninja H2R went on to post a maximum speed of a blistering fast 348.2kmph. But the group believes that the H2R can do even better and did not reach its peak owing to a short 1-mile (1.6km) stretch to let loose on. The Bonneville Salt Flats has a 5-mile (8km) course where the H2R can be pushed even further than on the Mojave Mile, showcasing its absolute best at the event.
(Kawasaki Ninja H2R)The Ninja H2R that will be used at the event will run the stock engine that belts out a massive 300bhp (unofficial) but have minor modifications to its body, in the form of a fully-flat fairing at the front, removed winglets, oversized front fender, modified rear sprocket, chain cover (event regulations) and aftermarket Dunlop Sportmax GP-A Pro tyres at both ends.
The motorcycle will be piloted by Shigeru Yamashita, a 47 year old test rider with Kawasaki who has 27 years of motorcycle testing experience under his belt along with 9 entries in the Suzuka 8-hour Endurance Race. If the ninja H2R can touch 348.2kmph in 1.6km, we are waiting with bated breath to watch what kind speeds it can do on an 8km stretch.
