Kia India revealed that the Carens MPV received a tremendous response from the Indian customers, with 7,738 pre-bookings registered on the very first day. The company opened the pre-bookings for prospective customers on January 14, 2022, through Kia India's official website and via any of the authorized dealerships of Kia India by paying an initial booking amount of Rs. 25,000. The company garnered this number on the very first day of opening the pre-bookings for the Kia Carens, i.e., January 14 till midnight of January 15. The Kia Carens MPV is the company's upcoming product based on the same platform as the Seltos and will offer a 6/7-seater, three-row configuration. The new Kia Carens MPV will be the South Korean carmaker's fourth product in India.

Kia Carens will be presented in 5 trim levels - Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus; in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The Carens MPV will feature Kia's latest global design language- a signature Tiger face with crown jewel LED headlamps and star map LED DRLs, along with new star map LED taillamps, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome rear bumper with diamond knurling pattern and much more. In terms of size, the Kia Carens MPV measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,708 mm in height, and boasts the longest wheelbase in the segment at 2,780 mm.
The new Kia Carens will be equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 1.4-litre T-GDi turbo-petrol, and a 1.5 CRDi VGT diesel engine.

Powering the Kia Carens MPV are two petrol and one diesel engine option, that includes a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor, and a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine churns out 113 bhp with 144 Nm of torque, whereas the 1.4-litre T-GDi turbo petrol engine develops 138 bhp with 242 Nm of peak torque. The diesel mill produces 113 bhp and 250 Nm. Transmission is handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard with optional automatic 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed torque converter, respectively.
