One of the most interesting unveils from British SUV manufacturer Land Rover last year was the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible. While the SUV was welcomed with some mixed feelings, we would be lying if we said it did not intrigue us. Recently the Evoque Convertible was spotted in India for the first time in a flat bed with partial camouflage and a Great Britain number plate. This indicates that the car has come to India for homologation purpose and we could expect launch pretty soon.

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible spotted in India bares the model's signature orange and black dual tone hue with camouflage on the front bumper. All the brand and model badgings are intact and judging from another badging on its boot indicates it's the HSE variant powered by 2.0-litre Si4 turbocharged engine.

The petrol motor is capable of producing a maximum of 237bhp and a peak torque of 340Nm, which comes mated to a 9-Speed automatic transmission. The Range Rover Evoque convertible also comes in two more engine option - 148bhp, 2.0-litre TD4 diesel engine with 380Nm of peak torque and a 178bhp, TD4 diesel engine with 430Nm of peak torque. The oil burners paired to a 9-speed automatic and a 6 speed automatic respectively.

In terms of looks and design, the new addition to the Range Rover Convertible compared to the standard coupe version is of course the black soft-top roof. So you get the same sharp set of LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, black plastic under body cladding, two-door set up and rear spoiler among others. On feature front the SUV comes with offerings like - Rain Sensing Windscreen Wipers and automatic headlamps, hill start assist, hill descent control, four wheel drive (4wd), cruise control, 10.2 inch touch-screen, 5-inch colour TFT driver information centre, dynamic stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD, airbags, and more.

Globally, the option for a convertible Range Rover Evoque is available in two variants - SE and HSE Dynamic. That said, in India the convertible version is expected to come in the HSE Dynamic variant alone. The engine option is likely to include only the 2.0-litre Si4 petrol unit and will come to India via CBU route.
