Lego Showcases Life-Sized McLaren F1 Model Car At The Australian GP

Before you ask it, yes, you can sit in it! In fact, 8 time Grand Prix winner and home-hero Daniel Ricciardo tried out the Lego McLaren MCL36 displayed at the Melbourne GP Circuit ahead of the Australian GP - Ricciardo's home race -  this weekend. While it may not be as comfortable as the Formula 1 car it's modeled after, it sure is just as cool.

Built entirely out of Lego, it took 2,88,315 bricks and 1893 hours to assemble this life-sized model. The model also has moving pistons in its engine, a locking differential, and a rather detailed steering wheel. This full-sized model may not be for everyone, but Lego has also launched a scale model of the McLaren F1 car.

The steering wheel in the Lego McLaren is incredibly detailed, and features multiple dials and even a rev counter like on the F1 car

This isn't the first time that Lego has built a full scale vehicle, as it also built a 1.5 tonne Bugatti Chiron a few years back, and also a Ducati Panigale V4, which took 400 hours and 15,000 bricks to build!
