Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the locally assembled S-Class tomorrow, on October 7, 2021. The new-gen model of the German carmaker's flagship luxury sedan was launched in India only in June this year. While so far it was sold as a completely built unit (CBU), the company says that it is seeing overwhelming demand for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and has thus decided to advance its local assembly schedule. With local assembly, the price of the S-Class will also be revised, and it is likely to come down by a considerable margin.
We expect the prices for the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz S-Class to start under Rs. 2 crore

Now, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is currently offered in two options - the S 400d 4Matic and the S 450 4Matic, which are priced at Rs. 2.17 crore and Rs. 2.19 crore (ex-showroom, India) respectively. While the variants, design, styling, features and everything else will almost remain unchanged, with local assembly the prices will come down. And we expect the new prices for the S-Class to start under Rs. 2 crore. Possibly Rs. 1.98 crore for S 400d 4Matic and Rs. 2 crore for the S 450 4Matic (all prices ex-showroom, India).
Mercedes-Benz had allotted 150 CBU units of the S-Class for India and half of them were booked even before the prices were out

The new 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is smarter, more feature-packed and a lot safer compared to its predecessor. The design and styling give it a more elegant look with those smooth lines and tasteful chrome details. The car come with new digital LED headlights, 20-inch alloys, and flush-fitted door handles that come out automatically when the key is near the car. Inside, the S-Class gets a luxurious cabin with superior fit and finish along with creature comforts like - a panoramic sliding sunroof, Burmester high-end 4D sound system, 30 loudspeakers and 8 resonators, and ambient lighting with over 263 optic LED lights throughout the cabin. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class gets up to five OLED displays, four of which are touchscreen units, including the massive 12.8-inch infotainment system, equipped with the latest-gen MBUX system.

The 2021 S Class gets two engine options - 3.0-litre petrol and a 3.0-litre diesel motor. Both models get a 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard, and the petrol motor gets an integrated starter generator so, it also qualifies as a mild hybrid engine.
