Mahindra is all set to make its foray in the Indian personal electric passenger vehicle (PV) space with the all-new Mahindra XUV400 EV, which will be launched later this evening. The new Mahindra XUV400 is essentially an electric derivative of the Mahindra XUV300 subcompact SUV but is likely to have a bigger footprint. Yes! The new Mahindra XUV400 EV is expected to be longer than four metres and likely be more spacious on the inside, offering better legroom and boot space compared to its petrol- or diesel-powered version. Electric cars don't attract any tax benefit for measuring under four metres in length.

Expected Price
The Mahindra XUV400 is expected to be positioned between the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV, and we expect the ex-showroom prices to begin at around Rs. 14.80 lakh.
Design & Features
The latest teaser of the Mahindra XUV400 EV gives a good idea of its front-end design. As EVs don't have the need for a traditional grille, the XUV400 gets a new insert replacing the radiator grille, with 'X' motifs embossed on it. Mahindra's new twin-peaks logo takes centrestage while the grille is flanked by LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs) which have been borrowed from the XUV300. Now, in terms of creature comforts, we expect it to be identical to the XUV300 offering features like auto climate control, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers and drive modes among others. That said, we also expect it to get few more features like the AdrenoX connected car tech, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument console.
Specifications
The new Mahindra XUV400 is expected to get a single synchronous electric motor powering its front wheels. The EV is expected to belt out around 130 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. The Mahindra XUV400 is also expected to be launched with two lithium-ion battery pack options and the higher variant featuring the bigger battery pack is expected to deliver around 450 km drive range on a single charge.
