After an influx of Mahindra XUV700 camouflaged spy pictures over the last year, for the first time the SUV has been spotted completely undisguised and it builds up on the looks of the Mahindra XUV500. The Cheetah design theme is quite apparent and so is the silhouette that's inspired from the XUV500, just that it's a size bigger and has a larger footprint. The tall window frame and muscular haunch with the rising beltline after the C-Pillar are design elements we have seen in the XUV family right from the start and even the rear will tell you the same. Just that it looks busy and overdone with sculpting and there are too many layers. Then, the license plate area is too wide for a standard size HPRC number plates.

Having said that, the tri-arrow sort of wraparound taillights piano black treatment and chunky skid plates on the bold black cladding go well with its proportions and macho looks and every element is quite massive and solid in appearance, done intentionally to blend with its mass. The front end is entirely new and a bit squarish. The wide five-slat black grille with chrome inserts and LED headlights with the daytime running lights (DRLs) extending to the bumper look a bit too angular for this bold design, but then quite of you like that and looks are always subjective. Have to say that these subtle contrasting piano black treatment look good on this golden brown body colour. And speaking of colours, we are expecting some new shades for the XUV700 which we haven't seen on Mahindra's before, for instance this very golden brown shade.

Latest teasers shared by Mahindra also tell us that the SUV will come with a bunch of first-in-segment features and will be quite well loaded with creature comforts. In addition to these smart door handles and massive panoramic sunroof, it will also get driver drowsiness detection feature, auto booster headlamps and personalised safety alerts among others. The 2021 Mahindra XUV700 SUV will sport exterior elements like the signature-style chrome grille, aggressive-looking LED headlamps with LED DRLs, larger alloy wheels, C-shaped wraparound LED taillights and more. On the inside, the SUV will get dual screens for the digital console and the infotainment system, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, drive modes, engine start-stop, Level 1 autonomous driving and panoramic sunroof among others. It is expected to come with a choice of petrol and diesel powertrains. While the petrol mill is likely to be Mahindra's new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder mStallion turbocharged unit, the oil burner could be a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. Both engines are likely to be paired with a manual gearbox along with an optional automatic transmission and optional All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system on range-topping trims.
