Mahindra & Mahindra has announced production figures for December 2021. Last month, the home-grown utility vehicle maker produced 11,157 passenger vehicles, registering a drop of over 30 per cent YoY, against 16,069 units made in the same month in 2020. Compared to 18,261 vehicles manufactured in December 2021, the automaker witnessed a 38.9 per cent decline Month-on-Month (MoM) in SUV production. The company had already said that it is facing a supply shortage of semiconductors which has primarily affected the production of vehicles sold in the domestic market.

Last month, Mahindra produced 2,064 units of electric three-wheelers in India
As for three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles, the company manufactured 499 units last month, which is a drop of over 81 per cent against 2,755 units made in the corresponding month in 2020. Last month, the production of Treo electric three-wheelers in India was at 2,064 units. Against 1,317 units produced in December 2021, the company recorded a growth of 56.7 per cent Month-on-Month (MoM). Production of Commercial Vehicles stood at 11,132 units in December 2021, registering a drop of 24.9 per cent compared to 14,836 units in the same month last year.

Mahindra sold 17,469 utility vehicles (UVs) in India last month
In terms of sales, Mahindra's total sales (passenger vehicles + commercial vehicles + exports) stood at 39,157 units. Compared to the 35,187 vehicles sold in December 2020, the company witnessed a year-on-year growth of 11 per cent. The Utility Vehicle (UV) segment accounted for 17,469 units last month, registering a 9 per cent growth compared to 16,050 vehicles sold in December 2020. The company also exported 3,017 units from India in December 2021, out of which SUVs accounted for 873 units.
