As of October 2016, Maruti Suzuki had sold over 60,000 units of the Vitara Brezza in India and that figure could have been higher, had the company been able to increase its production. It has got over 1.75 lakh bookings already too. Interestingly the Vitara Brezza crossed the 10,000 sales mark for a month twice since its launch and all this achieved when there's only one diesel engine on offer as also no automatic transmission. So you can understand how well the Vitara Brezza has connected with the crowd. We can understand though, why the Vitara Brezza is a much loved sub-compact SUV. For starters it sports an appealing design, a stylish exterior, and gets a host of features. There's a muscular-looking front bumper with large air intakes flanked by fog lamps and LED guide lights and black underbody plastic cladding. The floating roof design and the 16-inch alloy wheels (top-end variants) further add to car's appeal. At the rear, wraparound tail-lamps, a chunky chrome unit on the tailgate, and a meaty bumper top off the Vitara Brezza's masculine appeal.
Mind you, Maruti Suzuki has also kick-started an iCreate customization programme for the Vitara Brezza where customers can choose from 90 customisation options in different packages.
Under the hood, the Vitara Brezza is powered by a sole 1.3-litre DDIS engine the makes 89bhp and develops 200Nm of peak torque. The diesel motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Maruti Suzuki is also working on an AMT version of the car, which will come to India soon. Clearly the demand for the car is going to go up once it's introduced with a petrol engine but as of now, the carmaker is working on optimising its production to deliver its cars within the committed time frame.
