Maruti Suzuki claims to have brought down the weighted average of CO2 emissions by over 11.6 per cent in the last 5 years. And this has been possible by fuel efficiency improvements, reduction of exhaust emissions and development of alternate fuel products. As a result, all three most fuel-efficient vehicles in India, currently, are from Maruti Suzuki - Celerio, Dzire and Ciaz.
This was achieved via changes in engine hardware to improve thermal efficiency and engine calibration. The company has also optimised transmission gear ratios for better drive and fuel efficiency. The cars styling now comes with improved aerodynamics and weight reduction initiatives. Furthermore, the combustion chamber has been made compact so that optimum fuel is burned. Advanced thermal management system along with low friction engine oil and modified fuel injection system that assist faster warm up to improve engine efficiency of diesel engine have also been adopted.
"The recent new models, product upgrades and even minor changes have been substantially more fuel efficient than the outgoing ones. With Auto Gear Shift technology the Company is able to offer the convenience of an automatic without the need to emit more", he added.
Further explaining the company's initiative to bring down the emission norms of its vehicles, the company said that it was the first company to introduce factory-fitted CNG cars in India in 2016. Maruti Suzuki, currently, offers six dual fuel (CNG+Petrol) in the country - Alto, Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga. Also Read: Top CNG Cars in India
At the last Geneva Motor Show, Maruti Suzuki's parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation had showcased three new technologies including a new-generation light weight platform, a new downsized direct-injection turbocharged petrol unit - BOOSTERJET - and the SHVS mild hybrid system. These technologies will further help bring down.
